This is the Signed original Gouache painting by Roger Payne.

When the Netherlands was invaded by the armies of the French "Sun King" Louis XIV, the Dutch responded by blowing up the dykes and flooding their own land to make it useless. The Dutch were lead by William III who was successful on the battlefield and in diplomacy. He was soon seen as the leader of Protestant Europe.

When James II in England began to flaunt his Catholic beliefs William was offered the English throne in the "Bloodless Revolution". Dynasties of Destiny: Dutchman Who Ruled Britain. This is the original artwork from Look and Learn no. 754 (26 June 1976).
