The Battle of Patay was one of the most important battles of the Hundred Years' War and was fought between the French and English armies on June 28, 1429. After lifting the Siege of Orleans the French recaptured several English strongholds in the Loire valley and the Battle of Patay (near Chateau Chinon) was the culmination of the French Loire Campaign.

The French decisively defeated the English forces by the tactic of heavy frontal attack and turned the course of the Hundred Years' War into French favor. The success of the Battle of Patay is often credited to Joan of Arc but most of the fighting was over before she arrived.
