This is the original Watercolour painting by Patrick Nicolle.

Original watercolour illustrations from the Fifth Look and Learn Book of 1001 Questions and Answers (1971). From a section entitled 'The South Africa Story'. Two illustrations, the first showing Phoenician explorers sent by the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho II (reigned 610-595BC) to explore the coast of Africa. The second depicts Jan van Riebeeck (1619-1677), the founder of Cape Town, arriving in the Cape, 1652.
