Tough action art by the wonderful James McConnell. An original watercolour created for the cover to Amalgamated Press' Western Library issue 42, published 1952.

The Range Boss, written by Charles Alden Seltzer who was an American author who's work appeared in the noted Argosy magazine; his career spanning 1911-1943. Unlike the later Cowboy Picture Library this title featured prose stories rather than comics.

This explains the need for covers with great impact, they had to "leap off" the newsstand and sell the magazine. The title, author and the Western Library badge are on an Acetate overlay.
