Description: Sam Houston (1793 - 1863) was a colourful and controversial figure in Texas history. This painting show him at the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21st 1836 where he led the Texas forces against Santa Ana to establish Texas independence after rallying the Texans following the fall of the Alamo and Goliad.
