I love this joke. The anthropomorphised Korky, standing on his hind legs like humans do, is challenging a cat who is still on four legs and spitting at him just like cats do. His challenge to "Put up your mitts" could be an invitation to stand up and join him as a comic book cat.

The panel draws attention to the conventions of comics and as this self-consciousness is a defining characteristic of post-modernism, you could call this a classic post-modern witticism. Good old Korky. Screenprint on handmade, acid-free Somerset paper.
