This is the original Gouache painting by Janet Blakeley.

Dolphins love to flip their powerful tail fins to propel themselves out of the water. In the United States, bottle-nosed dolphins like those shown in our picture are trained to catch beach balls and juggle them on the end of their noses. This is the original artwork for illustration on p7 of Look and Learn issue no 900 (21 April 1979).
