This is the original Gouache painting by Alessandro Biffignandi.

Wonderful work by Biffignandi, better known for his Fleetway Picture Library war covers. Here he depicts the entrance of a Roman road into a fortified town.

It comes from a series that ran in Treasure magazine explaining the history of Romano-Britain to younger readers. The life in the faces of the two men in the foreground is especially good.

The issue of Treasure is unknown, probably early in the series run, just dated April 27 on the reverse and noted as page 16.
