This is the original Gouache painting by Severino Baraldi.

A depiction of a barge preparing to unload beneath the Aventine Hill. Its cargo has come up from the coastal port of Ostia to the Emporium, Rome's own riverside harbour. In this port, many varied articles from all over the Empire came to Rome, including food and precious materials. The inset shows the public baths which became fashionable meeting places. This is the original artwork for illustration on p15 of Look and Learn issue no 1010 (18 July 1981).
