Fortunino Matania (The Forge) The Illustration Art Gallery is owned and run by Geoff West who has over 30 years of experience in selling illustration art through Conquistador which was founded in 1977 as a mail order company supplying books and art seldom seen in the High Street. Subsequently we continue to sell art and books worldwide through the Book Palace. and to publish our own highly collectable book titles under Book Palace Books.

The Illustration Art Gallery was founded to help promote and expand the knowledge and ownership of illustration art.
We first became involved in illustration art over 30 years ago, and during that time have built up a fine appreciation of the genre, which ranges from book and magazine illustrations (including covers), artwork for comics and newspaper strips, posters, animation cels, and computer generated graphics for both films and games.

The art techniques employed are varied, ranging from the traditional oils and watercolours, pastels, acrylics, gouache, pen and inks, crayons, to highly creative and sometimes deceptively simple computer graphics, as well as the finest pencil drawings and charcoals.

F Stocks May (Rebecca at the Well) Art knows no boundaries, and can be appreciated by whomever and wherever it is seen, from the famous fantasy art of Frank Frazetta to the Sci-Fi art of Hajime Sorayama, from the chilling to the fairy-tale whimsy of Nadir Quinto and the familiar John Harrold (Rupert Bear), from disturbing science-fiction worlds to the humourous (and satirical) observations of Will Eisner, the saucy Milo Manara, the exquisite penmanship of Fortunino Matania, and from the legendary Frank Bellamy comic strip art, including Dan Dare and Fraser of Africa to iconic Thunderbirds pages from Keith Watson.

Work Experience (internships)
We are pleased to offer work experience for a minimum of 2 weeks and maximum of 4 weeks to students and graduates who are interested in art.

Most of the work will be fairly mundane (filing, sorting and general office admin) but will include database and scanning and client contact and will offer the chance to see how an online art gallery and publishing house works. Typing and computer literacy are essential. You should have excellent written and spoken English, have a good telephone manner, plenty of enthusiasm and an interest in art.

We are a pretty laid back company and play an eclectic music soundtrack during office hours (10am - 6pm). Mostly we have fun, but we work hard.

If you are interested please contact us by email ONLY with a short CV.
